The beautiful Northern Black Hills offer the perfect landscape for snowshoeing. If you are a fan of winter hiking, you won’t want to miss out the stunning winter scenery in Spearfish Canyon. Whether you’re searching for frozen waterfalls, stunning vistas, towering canyon walls, or peaceful forests, you’re not far from a dreamy view when you stay at the Lodge!
We highly recommend snowshoeing the Roughlock Falls Trail near the Lodge. This waterfall is breathtaking during the summer months, but it takes on a whole new kind of beauty in the winter. Because this is a short trail (just 1-mile each direction), this trail is perfect for the entire family.
Other popular trails in Spearfish Canyon and the surrounding Black Hills National Forest include: Iron Creek, Eagle Cliff Trails, and Old Baldy.
Spearfish Canyon gets an average of 70″ of snow every year, so if you’re planning a winter getaway to the Lodge, you will definitely want to hit the trails and explore! Need snowshoes? We are more than happy to rent you some, just stop by our Rental Center!
